Does anyone know why my maran egg would look like this?? (Left)
They’re free range and always very healthy... until now.. this particular hen keeps laying eggs that look like this. I just need to know if this is normal.
Did you know that there are 4 different kinds of albumen(whites) in an egg?
Mostly we just notice 2 of them, the thin one that spreads out and the thicker one that 'clings' to the yolk. That's what you're seeing there but the thick does seem 'extra' thick.
Every birds eggs can be slightly different, so this might be 'normal' for your Marans.
Does it cook up and taste OK?
