Feeding the birds this morning I heard the strangest sounds yet from the coop. Couldn't see which one was doing it, but guessed it to be one of the roosters. I think he's finding his voice. Sounded more like a death moan than a crow, but I'm sure it will get better. I suspect that I have 3 roosters of the nine in the coop, so I'll have to pay more attention to what's going on.

Ah, a new cockerels first crows. I don't think anyone who keeps a rooster will ever forget that sound. Some of my boys sounded like someone was literally choking them to death when they first started! He'll get better, and will be singing sweet tunes before you know it!

The other morning it was still dark when I left for work. As I opened the back door I heard a noise that I assumed was one of my puppies (I have a litter of Shih Tzus) being slowly killed by one of the other dogs. It was HORRIBLE!

I ran outside and the pups were all sound asleep in the crate. I finally figured out it was one of my roosters finding his voice. Hasn't happened again that I can tell! They are about 3 months old now.
