Strange seed like thing my chickens try to eat?

    Lately around this time of month my oak tree has the tanish fluffy balls that fall from the trees and leaves there are redder ones that stick to leaves any ideas what these are??My chickens try to eat them yet they always spit them back out[​IMG] here's what they look like

    I believe that they are galls of some sort. They form when a small wasp lays an egg in the oak leaf. As the gall forms the larvae lives inside feeding on the gall. If you cut one open there should be a very small pupae inside. That is if I am correct in my 'diagnosis'. [​IMG]

    Well I did they are very small nothing just look like tiny acorns accept I can't see it but pretty sure there is nothing.Nothing was squirming
