I ordered some Bourbon Red turkey poults which arrived last week. I noticed one of them had a poof of feathers on one side of its chest, so picked it up to take a closer look thinking it may have an abcess. To my amazement, it has three functional wings! The extra wing is smaller and in front of the regular wing on one side. It hangs a bit, but the poult can stretch it out!

It was pretty funny when I told my Dad. He's not an outdoorsy person by any stretch, and asked me how I knew how many wings it had, and how many was it supposed to have [IMG] An even number at least would make sense, unless it had a dorsal wing [IMG]

What causes a two week old turkey to just die?

Quote:there are LOTS of reasons any animal can just up and die. Illness, lack of proper nutrition, injury, etc. There is no way to know if it didn't have any symptoms of something before it died.

You may want to tell the place where you bought them. Good luck!
