Anyone use this fine straw in your nesting boxes or coop? We want to try it in the boxes for the winter as I hear it’s a better insulator/warmer: it’s super soft and fine: does it work well in the coop? Right now we have pine shavings in both but am considering mixing them?

I use straw with some hay on top of a layer of sand in the nest boxes during winter.
There is a sand floor in a small covered run where the chickens stay in the morning before the auto-pop door opens. When its cold and the snow doesn’t melt the chickens don’t go outside to the run or to the garden. Only then I will cover the sand floor with straw bc the sand gets cold when its freezing. And straw is a good isolation-material.
