So my daughter and I went out to feed our other animals this morning and a baby pot bellied pig was in our horse pasture. The horses chased him, but finally after several hours we were able to coax him to the barn where we keep our goats. We have a subdivision behind our farm and I’ve started asking around to see if he escaped from someone’s yard. No luck yet, I hoping someone didn’t dump him here be at they know we have other livestock. Anyway, if no one claims him we will keep him. We are new to pigs and are clueless. I got him some Mazuri Mini Pig Youth pellets and he seems to enjoy those. I’m also wondering how old he might be. Will he eventually be able to mingle with our goats? We have 4 wethers. He seems curious about them, they are all under 1 year old. Thank you!

I don't know squat about pigs, but I would look at that as nature saying it belong there with you. I'm a bit envious to be honest. ;) I'd LOVE to have a pig.
I am totally clueless! My daughter has fallen in love, so I’m kinda hoping no one claims him. She would be heartbroken. But I am beyond clueless when it comes to pigs! :D:idunno

Go onto amazon.com. You will be able to find several inexpensive books on mini pigs. A friend of mine had one. It ran around the farm with the dogs and slept with them on the enclosed back porch. They all went in and out through the doggie door. I have no idea what she fed hers.

They can eat pretty much anything remotely edible up to and including any poor chickens you may lose along the way. If you raise meat chickens, pigs will eat everything you normally throw away or compost. They’ll eat all the leftovers, non-toxic garden waste, etc that you can’t talk your birds into eating. They like milk, all grains... You can also find piggy chow at your farm store.

We started with one shire mix from 3 days old and now have an additional 3 “mini” pigs that we rescued. PS mini is 200 lbs. their nature of Rooting Is what made their lovin families rehome them. We too started with no experience! Here’s Pics of our “minis”
