I lost my first chicken today 
Last night I put my flock to bed as normal, but this morning, Spot, one of my RIR was lying on the floor of the coop, stiff as a board. No warning. Besides cleaning and disinfecting the coop and checking the rest of the flock, what steps should I take? should I get a necropsy? Arizona has not reported any cases of Bird Flu, but that really does not mean anything. Any preventative treatments I should take? I'm freaking out a bit here.
