Sudden Death

One and a half year old Buff Orpington died early this morning. No signs of any trauma... she was sitting in her favorite spot, in a newly scratched out hole. She had seemed healthy yesterday, and my three other hens are all healthy.

Sad day, she was too young!

Just lost my GLW in a similar way. She was in the corner of a straw shelter in their run this afternoon. She seemed fine this morning, and not a mark on her. No sign of parasites and healthy body weight. Just dead. Sigh. I guess sometimes chickens just die, but I'll miss her pretty pink eggs and spunky attitude. She was just under 2.
