Suggestions on Transportation Method

Stupid question... I know, there are no stupid questions (just stupid people)

I plan to get 6-10 hens, and maybe of those, 1 roo... but being that this is my first time with collecting chickens and bringing them home, what is the best transportation method? Large box? Buy an animal crate?

Also, DH and I will probably drive the pickup... it's bed is covered in the back - will they be OK back there?

Despite the first sentence, I'm feeling pretty chicken-ignorant.

You are fine. Make certain that there is a little ventilation but not so much that they get blown away.

A large, secure box would work, animal carriers would work.

You'll do fine.
