Sumatras and coops

Hi everyone. I am considering adding Sumatras to my flock but I have read they do not like to be confined. I live in Michigan. Where do I put them in the winter? Do I force them to be in the coop with the other chickens or would they be better outside? Thanks

Sumatras are not coop birds. During the winter, you put them in the coop with the door wide open. They're hardy.
