Do you feed the BOSS in-shell? just want to make sure before I give them to my girls.
The consensus is almost unanimous - they are perfectly safe with the shells intact (in the shell).
My girls chow them down, heads and all.
Boss whole, definitely. They need some grit- free ranging or provided if they can't access some sharp gravel in the soil.
They are in a crate inside but I gave them a bowl of grit and oyster shells.
I thought oyster shell was grit. Am I wrong?
Yes. Oyster shell is for calcium for the egg shells. Grit is small rocks to aid in digestion.
Mine go crazy for them lol i just hate how costly they are... 1$ lb here...
my free rangers sit uder the bird feeder a wait for scraps. its funny cause they wait and wait till blue jay comes and makes a mess then some fall on the ground and they all go crazy scratching and pecking
