did anyone else order any from Ideal I ordered 25 roos and 8 pullets, I seem to have alot of odd colored chicks with alot of rose type combs. Some of these chicks don't really resemble any breed that I know, just wondering if they send mutt chicks as sunrise surprise.

Hatcheries don't sell mixed breed chicks.

Not sure about the sunrise suprise. If you shoot their customer service an email, I'm sure they'd give you an answer. [IMG]

I've ordered from Ideal before, always got pure breeds that I was wanting.

The Easter Eggers are bred from other Easter Eggers LOL, as pure as an Easter Egger could get.

The eggs are bought from various breeding farms that keep large flocks of individual breeds; they do not crossbreed with the exception of intentional hybrids.

EEs can come in just about any color and have pea combs. I bet you got some of those. What color are their legs?

Ideal always sends me extra EE roos. I'm not sure if their cross breeds but 1 had a walnut comb. Maybe some of the experts could tell you if they were pure chicks or not. Pics please![IMG]

    Equibling~

I picked him out of the straight run assorted bantam bin. There were all sorts of breeds in there. As a baby he was about the size of the bantam cochin and brahma pullets I picked up. I was randomly selecting feather legged chicks and didn't know anything much about breeds (at the time) except that I wanted some cochins. [IMG]
