Do any of them have feathered legs? :) The only hatchery I'm aware of carrying Black Marans is Cackle, and theirs are of the French variety.

They were accurate on the sex. As for the breed, they look closer to Australorps. If they are marans than they are substandard.

Hoovers has Midnight Magic Marans. They're new but have feathered feet, supposedly.

The more I think about it, your cockerel would likely be developing red wing bars and copper in the hackle if he were indeed Black Copper. :) They look more like Australorps to me, too. Just lovely, nonetheless. :love

My BCM (who was supposed to be a female) only has very lightly feathered legs. I thought both feathered and non-feathered were acceptable and fully feathered was not a BCM trait.

I don't get the attraction of fully feathered feet. Don't they get all groddy?

I couldn't help identify a female because we never got one. ....but I have 2 more on order for April.

I want those dark chocolate eggs too! Now maybe I'll even get chicks in time. Fingers crossed.

I see one of your pullets has grey legs. And her head lacks some of the markings of the other ones.
