SURPRISE chicks

    My daughter ran in the house saying something about a hen having babies.
    Here's what I did: :eek: before I ran out of the house to see what she was talking about.
    I was picturing a broody hen (which I had been waiting a long time for), or some sort of joke (we DO have in-laws visiting this week) but seriously, one of my hens was across the field with a little troop of chicks in tow. My jaw hit the ground!!
    How often does this happen???

    She trotted out with EIGHT chicks. All of them healthy and happy and apparently only a couple days old. We had NO. CLUE. WHATSOEVER!!

    It was a good surprise though. Very good!
