Paige, my runner duck whose leg was mangled when she was egg bound months ago, had a surprise for me today.
When I got home from town and was preparing to release her from her little infirmary crate inside the duck shelter (I only use it because the boys REFUSE to leave her alone and she can't run away from them anymore), there was an egg. It's her first egg since she was injured, and she seems fine.
I am both amazed that she's laying again and nervous that she might get egg bound again. In the meantime, I have to think of something really special to do with that egg -- and make sure she gets a chilled grape treat!!
