surrogate mother for day old?

    Hi everyone
    I am in the stages of planning for my first time buying day old chicks. My question is if I have "bush fowl" (semi-wild chickens my father feeds on a daily basis) and I can catch a hen; can I put her in the coop and introduce the chicks i buy online (after she settles into being confined)? Has anybody done this?

    I highly doubt that'll work. If she's kinda wild and not broody and just confined I would be scared shed kill the chicks. I personally wouldn't do it.

    I've been dealing with broody hens for a while and I know which ones will and which ones won't. U can't really just throw them together. Especially a wild one.

    X2 with sdm111. I would not risk putting chicks with a wild hen that you don't know and isn't broody. There is a very high risk of a blood bath and dead chicks. If you are buying chicks I would brood them yourself.
