Hi all,

I just got my first ever flock of chickens, and I figured I'd make things easier on myself by getting the golden comets. When I got them, I had three caramel colored girls, and one suspiciously yellow possible boy. I wanted to know if anyone has ever got a lighter colored gold comet that had the little stripes down it's back, and if it's just a color variation within the female gender for these chickens. From what I understand the males don't have any markings at all, just fluffy light yellow.

Am I way off base or can I expect Goldie to turn manly on me?

It is iffy. At 10 weeks, it will be a cinch to know. Meanwhile think good thoughts.

98% of all sex links are obvious, but there always that 2% with that indistinguishable coloring.

Aren't the boys supposed to be silvery colored? Look on the sex-link info, they have side by side pics of the color difference.
