Okay so I used to love my grandmas recipe. Well she passed a few years ago My uncle got my granparents house and moved all the cooking books and recipes to the basement. Well it flooded!! And its lost. I have looked online and well nothing is near to it. Something is always missing and I cant put my finger on it. So if you can please post yours my family will be happy to try them and pick a new family pea salad. Thanks for your time in reading my post ~
mine is easy canned peas drained boiled eggs onion and miracle whip simple fast and everyone loves it.
This is a favorite! Peas and Cheese Salad 15 ounces canned peas, drained (I prefer frozen peas, about 2 cups, lightly cooked, drained, cooled) 1 cup cheddar or colby cheese, shredded 1 cup celery, coarsely chopped 1/4 cup onion, minced (adjust to taste) DRESSING: 1/2 cup salad dressing or mayonnaise 2 teaspoons sugar 2 teaspoons milk salt and pepper to taste 1/2 cup bacon bits (optional) * Place peas, shredded cheese, celery and onions in a bowl. * In a separate bowl, combine dressing ingredients. Pour dressing over pea and cheese mixture and blend well. If desired, fold in bacon bits. * Cover and refrigerate before serving. Doubles easily.
This recipe has more than peas - but we love it! 1 can early peas 1 can white corn 1 can french green beans 1 small jar diced pimentos 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/2 cup chopped onion drain all of the canned vegetables and mix everything together. Dressing: 1/2 cup white vinegar 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup salad oil 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pour the dressing over the vegetables and let marinate in the frig for a few hours.
Here's mine. Thawed frozen peas, red onion, hard boiled eggs, mayo, mustard and dill. I just taste dressing as I go.
Thank you all! We are having the pea salad showdown tonight at the Fire Dept. Ill let ya know how it goes
