Hey y'all. Here is the mystery, help me solve please!

New bantam chick, very small (slightly bigger than the size of a golf ball), swollen foot. No visible cuts or scab.

We've had her for 24 hours and overall I think she is improving (she is hopping around more than when she first got home), but the foot is still swollen and she avoids putting pressure one it.

We brought her home knowing she might not make it (thought it was an issue of needing pasty butt cleared up and some TLC), but I'd love to try my hardest to save her.

Thoughts? No scab, can't be more than maybe 3-5 days old. Was on a metal mesh screen at Farm Supply Store. Don't want to blindly lance the foot without more proof that it's bumblefoot.

    Thanks, y'all!

More than likely it is a sprained foot. I would just watch it for now. She is too young for bumblefoot. The wire floor may have something to do with it, since that is hard on baby chick's feet.

Thanks @Eggcessive! I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I saw your response. Gives me hope for the chick!

I noticed her leg is swollen, too. Not sure if it's my wishful thinking or actually true, but she does appear better today.
