My 7 year old dwarf silkie has a swollen nostril and has some trouble breathing. Does anyone know how to treat her?

Can you put a warm compress on his nostrils and try to gently scrape off the dried in mucus, then put vetricyn oil on his nostrils and on his chin. Also give him some raw yolk and nutri drench to boost his immune system.

Build-up of dried mucus in the nares (nostrils) can be a sign of a mild respiratory infection such as Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV) or Infectious Coryza, however, if food or muddy dirt get into the nares it can harden and become painful for the bird. If this is a common reoccurring thing happening to your birds, I would look into treating for a respiratory infection.
