I imagine there must be leeway in the interpretation?
But there you have my question.

I would say yes. A bird fitting the standard would be able to be shown. I think the question is how close does it fit the standard.

I would say yes and no. If all the individual parts are correct or near correct, but the WHOLE picture doesn't add up to the "type" of the breed in question, then it doesn't paint a winning picture to a judge's eye. In otherwords, they may meet the "minimum" number of points per section of bird, but the total doesn't add up to make a nice representation of the breed. Was that clear as mud?? [IMG]

    would you agree to that?

Sure, as long as it doesn't have any DQs, like side sprigs, wrong colored eyes, too many or too few toes etc. for examples. Study the SOP for your breed and see how close you come to it.

thanks deb, but i am asking the question only academically; I have no plans to show, actually.

Any bird that meets the Standard of Perfection CAN be shown. It is NOT ethical to sell that bird to another person stating it is that breed though.

Depends upon ones personal Standards. Me thinks you have answers to your questions prior to posting them. Bill
