Can anyone explain how to tell if a chicken's body temperature is elevated? My Houdini has a bad gash which I'm treating and I'm trying to prevent infection. I've cleaned the wound, rinsed with saline and used Wound-Kote on it (works like Blu-Kote). She's isolated in a warm, dark area.

For mammals, body temp is obvious (rectum) but what about chickens, and is it as important as other criteria? Thanks in advance. MEB

Hello and welcome to BYC [IMG] I'm sorry I can't help you, but ask in Emergency/Diseases. There are some very knowledgeable members here that hang out in that section. Good luck!
