We have 2 Golden Laced Wyandotte chicks - one of whom I suspect is a Roo, due to the comb (the other chick hasn't even started to develop a comb yet). Does anyone have experience with the temperament of these Roos? I am hoping that they are good citizens -- hadn't planned on having a roo!

I think you'll get people on either side of the fence. It all depends on that individual birds temperment and personality. Generally speaking that breed is not known to be very mean or aggressive, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

My wyandotte hens were/are the meanest birds in my flock. I got rid of 2 of them to sprare the other birds from them ganging up on them and the one left is still the flock bully.

Oh MY!! One of the reasons I got Wyandotte's was their reputation of being calm and friendly. Very sorry about your experience -- and I hope that my hens will not turn out that way!! Sounds awful!

My roos are more friendly then my hens when it comes to the Wyandottes. Three of the four are easily caught and they fall asleep when I hold them. The other will put up a fight and try to get away. My hens are rather standoffish actually. If you handle him it will probably be fine. But some chicks are born to be mean.
