Hi everyone

I'm new to the forum and new to keeping ducks.

I have week old ducks and they're starting to make a lot of mess which obviously brings a smell :)

What's your best tips, tricks and advice in regards to bedding, keeping their cage "dry" from water, and General up keep please? They need to be in house for another 3 weeks and I am cleaning them out twice a day. They're currently on shavings.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Laura

Keeping bedding dry with ducks is the biggest challenge... try to use the largest flake shaving you can get for them cuz you don't want them eating them, ducks love to bill around in the bedding and could eat the smaller pieces... as for the water, I got a good tip from the lady I got my first ducklings from... get a cake pan with the plastic snap on/or lock down lid and cut out a large square (most of the lid, but leave a couple inches around the edges) and glue/wire/secure hardware cloth or metal screen/mesh across the opening... simply keep their waterer on top of that and empty and clean the pan as needed... this helps a bunch!! :)
