The big debate needs to be resolved!

    We have 6 chickens at our house. Three production reds, one New Hampshire, and 2 barred rocks, all hopefully pullets. One of our production reds has consistently been much larger than the others and a suspicious tail. We have wondered if she might be a he. Here are a few pictures:

    If I was selling and you wanted a pullet I would say I am pretty sure it is a pullet...if you wanted a roo I would say looks kind cockish...if I was buying I would claim it was roo and silently think pullet...naw I wouldn't do that...I would call it a hen and be wrong probably!

    I don't have any experience with this breed and the only pics of these I have seen the cockerals have black in the tails. Do the pullets get the black too?

    Yes, pullets get black in their tails too. Looks like a pullet to me.
