Post office called at 7:30 this morning. Our newest addition is a dozen assorted silkies.

They can from Ideal poultry. This is the second time I've ordered from them and both times the birds arrived alive and healthy.

It looks like we got white, black, buff, red, blue and partridge. We plan to keep 5-6 hens and a rooster. I hope to use them to sit on my white rock eggs. I'm brooding them in our new bantam coop I build.

Has anyone else gotten their bird early from ideal? Both times I've ordered I received at shipping email the day before the hatch date. They were supposed to hatch on the 6th but shipped in the 5th. I got them the morning of the 7th in VA from Texas. Not complaining just thought it was odd.
