I have a nearly year old Icelandic pullet.
She is a lovely bird. She spends a LOT of time watching other birds while they lay. She gets into the nest box with the other orange Icelandic, despite the layers protestations.
She won’t sit on eggs that have been laid, and isn’t eating the eggs. She lays about 3 per week herself.
She also spends a portion of the day looking into each nest box in sequence several times.
She forages and will go far from the coop if I let them roam outside the run.
Some weeks she does more of this than others. What is going on?
