What will happen if I bred a crested drake to a non crested duck that doesn’t carry the gene what so ever. Will it be a 50% Hatch on crested and non crested?

50% will not have the crested gene.
50% will carry the gene. Some may show it (very small crests) but chances are most will not

The best crest you get when you accept a 25 procent dead percentage where the brain of the hatchling has developed outside the skull.

I wouldn't breed with this gene. What do you do with the carrriërs you don't want? Sell them/give them away? Then somebody else might face a 25 procent dead rate unwanted..
I'm personally against breeding animals on looks that come with handicaps or death.

Unfortunately the only way to get big full crests is by breeding 2 well crested birds together
