Today we had record warmth in Maine for January, 50 wonderful warm degrees! Thankfully the ice melted in their stall I was able to do a nice deep clean; floor, walls and ceiling. They were certainly pleased
Introducing Lucy and Rosie Goose.
*Lucy has been part of Glacier Ridge Farm since 2010. Lucy is a very shy and nervous goose. She was given to us by a friend at the age of 2 after Lucy's gander was killed by a fox. She was lonely and her previous family thought she would enjoy a change of scenery.
Upon Lucy's arrival, she spent days searching for a friend around our farm feeling lost and unsure. We bought 2 wonderful little Mallard ducks for her, Ricky and Fred. For nearly a year they all enjoyed each others company! Unfortunately Ricky and Fred were killed by a Skunk and Raccoon, it was very heartbreaking for us, as well as Lucy.
A few weeks later we found a new friend for Lucy! Her name is Rosie. Rosie was part of a large poultry farm and was not welcome by the other geese. She spent much of her time with the ducks, for they were the ones who accepted her. However, she seemed to lack that true companionship she longed for.
Rosie joined our farm Spring of 2012 and Rosie and Lucy have been the best of friends! Rosie has a much more out-going personality compared to Lucy, but she too is shy as I imagine most geese are.
Lucy is approximately 5 years old and Rosie is possibly 3 years of age?
Enjoy!
