The HATCH That HASN'T/ ROUEN BABY{LuckyDucky& PIC..

Well we have been calling Baby Rouen Duck, "Lucky Ducky". cuz it's Lucky to be alive. The other 7 eggs never made it out alive. It was too late they had kept moving but I didn't know there was only so much time till they would suffocate. I know now & I am monitoring these last 5 eggs every movement. Hatch Day was yesterday March 13th, Sunday for the 5 eggs. I did candle them when i discarded the other 7. I found (1)out of the (5) wasn't developed all the way, mostly clear, see through & (3) FOR SURE MOVED. ~ 2 Eggs moved on Sunday ~3 Eggs Total Moved Today...*NOW WITHIN 24 HOURS THEY MUST PIP ~I MAKE A LITTLE HOLE IF NO PIP? **Question RE: Babies, DO U LEAVE FOOD /WATER 24HOURS A DAY IN BROODER TO EAT?? Thanks Every Body For Your Post, Julie

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFO TO TRY & SAVE THE BABIES. I wasn't soon enough. I Will save this for future reference. Thanks again, Julie

I originally read that info in the sticky's of the hatching section. The info above is just my experience, but you could probably go and read the other info to get better details.

Shoot, I haven't put anything in the water. Our Drinking Water is Well Water & it goes through a filter, if that makes any difference. *So is NIACIN a liquid or powder & is that what it's called just "NIACIN"? ~ I use the plastic container with the screw on lid that you turn upside down then water fills the lid for the duckling to drink from & I put Big Marbles in it so it won't drown. *Is this right? *And how long should I use marbles in drinking water area? Thank you so much, gofasterstripe & KansasKid for your help, Julie

You get Niacin in the vitamins dept of walmart. Mine came in 500mg and I split it up roughly. You need 100 MG to 1 gal water and then you can give them water staright out the 1 gal jug and leave it where its handy next to the brooder.
I dont know about marbles but he needs to be able to get his head in so he can clean his nose.

I'm FINALLY getting the Humidity & Temp both at the same time to where they need to be more steady. ( Temp 99 & Humidity 80-85) I actually have to Wrap a Plastic Wrap all the way around the Incubator where the lid meets the bottom half & I now wrap an "ACE BANDAGE" over the Top of the Plastic Wrap.~ All this just to keep the settings correct. }}Soon when this hatch is over, My New Post Topic is going to be... How HORRIBLE The LITTLE GIANT INCUBATOR IS!! For the price of the stupid thing it could at lease have a LID that FITS A LOT BETTER! I would have invested better if I knew how BADLY MADE The LITTLE GIANT INCUBATOR WAS/IS.

~this is my opinion.

I wonder where I read that at about marbles so the water wouldn't be too deep or some thing in that effect. ~So I don't need marbles or anything in or around the drinking water?? Maybe it was for baby chicks/chickens? yikes who knows lol Well any ways, Thanks again I'll get the Niacin... how long do you use niacin in the water? just wondering i dont wanna hurt my lil guy or girl. ~Julie

I too had heard about the marbles so you aren't crazy

Is the Niacin just for ducks or for chicks too? I have heard a lot of people give Pedialyte for the first few days to help the new chicks. Is that right?
