The Journal of The Quackers

That's hilarious! We had a thunderstorm on Sunday, and the ducks were a little scared, but they didn't go to the coop. Ducks are so funny!

Drake Feathers

My boys's drake feathers are coming in.

Alton's are completely in. He's such a
big boy! (You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get
a picture of him

)
~~~~~~
Miel's drake feathers have come in, but they curl around some of his other feathers so they're hard to see.
~~~~~~~
Sherlock's haven't fully come in yet, though he's already
acting like he's a full grown DRAKE. (if you know what I mean)

They're so Big *sniff* but I Love them just as much.

I love the curly feathers they get! Is Alton the oldest; is that why his drake feathers are the most curly?

They're Big!
I know my ducks are big, but I just realized my ducks are 15 weeks and the Anconas are at least 16 weeks! Ducks can start laying at 16 weeks!!!!!!! But that also means we're going to have to seperate the boys from the girls, because we don't want crossbreeds, and I'm not breeding till next spring. So soon we'll be making a breeding pen and boy's pen.

This is the journal of the Quakers a.k.a. My Duck Flock.
To start off let me introduce you to all of my ducks:

This is Miel ( Me-L ) Which is French for Honey. He's my Favorite Duck. He's a Magpie drake. He's
very friendly, maybe a little bit shy. He's a real sweetheart and enjoys a good swim. He has beautiful feathers
which can "glow" blue green, or purple. He likes staying
close to his friends and is overall the most charming bird of The Quakers.

This is Cheri, cheri means darling in French. She's a Magpie Hen. She's shy and doesn't like to be
alone. She likes to feel protected and hangs out with the bigger ducks. She'll put her head under another duck's breast. She's a charming little bird and I'm so glad to have her.

This is Jasper my goofy, but sweet black runner girl. She likes playing around and does what she likes.
She is the most friendly duck of The Quackers and has very beautiful plumage. There isn't any duck she really likes to hang around, so far as I know, she just, as I said, does what she likes. I really love her.

This is Ree, one of my Khaki Campbell girls, named after Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman. She's
sweet country girl and LOVES water . She's hard to tell from her "sister" except for she's slightly bigger
and has a more gray bill. She's rather skiddish and prefers to stay with her "sister". She's sweet and shy and just wonderful.

This is Mae, the other Khaki girl and Ree's "sister". She's sweet ans shy just like her "sister". She's a bit smaller thanRee and has a more brown bill. She's LOVES water, a little more than her "sister" and spends lots of her time there. She, just like her "sister" is skiddish and prefers to stay with her "sister. She's a charming country girl and it wouldn't be the same without her.

This is Daffodil, who I usually call Daffi for short. She's a Lavender Ancona girl and a real Goofball. She's the most food and drink loving duck of The Quackers. When I come outside and they're low on food or water she'll come right up to me quacking above everyone else. She's definitely the loudest. She also is the most social and won't leave the rest for a moment. I'm Glad to have her.

Here is Shirley, named after Anne Shirley from the Anne of Green Gables series. She's a Chocolate Ancona girl. She's a sweet, lady-like little ducky. She seems to follow along with the rest of the group, and does whatever most of The Quackers are doing. She's a sweet little lady and is nice to have around.

This is Sherlock, named after Sherlock Holmes which I LOVE to read. He's a Black Ancona Drake. He had Niacin
Deficiency lately, but with some advice ( thank you, guys! ) He's WAY better and walks up the pathway to the pond and gets out again very well. He LOVES water a LOT and Would probably spend all his time there if he could. He's a sweet, handsome boy and I love him!

Last, but not least is Alton. Alton, named after Alton Brown, is a Black Ancona Drake. He's the biggest of the flock and
tends to do what almost everyone else is. Cheri sees him as protection and maybe some of the others do to.He's a nice duckie, though I wouldn't say he likes being around people that much. He's big strong and handsome and nice to have around. And He dosen't like to have his picture taken it would seem.

These are my duckies, my darlings, The Quackers. I Love them a lot, and I hope you will love them too and enjoy their journal.
