Introduced a new RIR rooster two days ago, 7 months old and quite lovely. He was given to us by a very generous BYC'er who lives in our area. Our BO roo was killed by coons.

I didn't realize what a difference a roo makes for flock management. The ladies are much more organized and at ease with a roo present. He is quite impressive in his flock social skills.

Totally recommend getting a roo if you can, they really change the flock dynamic for the better, IMHO.
 
We got the 6 pullets first and added a roo later. They like having a man around, too

Yeah...we've been thinking about adding one as well, but not until next spring. I want one who is established and mature (and will be sweet to my girls). It sound like your young fella' is a pretty good catch for them....
