the mutant egg

    yesterday one of my leghorns laid a...well look below... on the right side you have the standard large white store egg, the middle is a speckled brown from one of my other leghorns and on the left...is the mutant egg.. now in the bator..

    Can you resize the pic? I can't see it as it's too big for the frame.

    Edit: Ok, never mind - I see it now. It's a big egg!

    My white leghorn will lay one like that every once in a while, couldn't tell you why though.

    The egg still tastes the same. I bet It will incubate just like the rest.

    Double yolker? I haven't gotten any of those yet. Why is your supposed leghorn laying brown eggs?

    why my supposed leghorn lays brown eggs im not sure... shes got white ear lobes [​IMG] im not sure why she lays brown eggs...i thought maybe the rooster had somethin to do with it...but nah.. and my other 2 leghorns are skinnier lay those mutant eggs everyday

    The tan and white color looks like my golden comets, but they are shaped different. I would post a picture but I can't figure out how.[​IMG]

    Oh Yay! I found out by reading the directions...duh. Here's 2 of my Comets (I hope *fingers crossed* )

    I've had some pretty strange eggs come from my Standard White Leghorns, especially lopsided ones. My Crevecoeur is difficult because she lays eggs that are perfectly oval, I have to candle them to tell which side to put in "up" in the incubator...and then I have a bantam cochin who lays perfectly round eggs...We just have issues around here.
