The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I think you're right Blooie...medals would probably be more appropriate, lol.

Heck, I think I deserve a medal for wrapping Christmas gifts. I don't like doing it, I'm not good at it and I always end up with bits of paper and tape everywhere. And of course the presents end up looking like they were run over in the driveway. When someone was passing out the gift wrapping genes, I must have been standing behind the door. After all these years of fighting it and trying to make pretty presents, I've decided that if I just use a whole lot of tape, it's all good.

Good morning folks

Hey Blooie I hope you enjoyed the Christmas party.

N F C I did not know you were chicken-free at the moment, I hope you are able to rectify that soon. Having said that, I could have done with being chicken-free at 04:45 this morning when I was refereeing two brawling broodies back to their respective corners

DMC I hear ya on the shop bought eggs .. during our frequent egg droughts, I buy eggs from the store to scramble and feed back to the girls .. yeah, I know

Hi Teila and congratulations once more! You sure take nice photos.

When we moved from Florida to Wyoming this spring, I had to leave my flock behind. I miss them but they are in good hands...the young couple took the whole flock so they weren't split up and they were chicken-knowledgeable (I believe the woman is a BYC member but cannot remember her user name). Hoping to get a few more this spring but since our house is owned by the company we work for, I don't know if they'll ok it yet or not. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Having to go back to store-bought eggs is yuck! I got so spoiled having our own...they were huge, beautiful, tasty and convenient (no trip to town involved). The store eggshells are so fragile, a definite difference for sure.

Been going through a lot of eggs lately, trying to get a bit of holiday baking done. If the weather holds out, we're going to my brothers house on the 23rd and I'd like to take some goodies.

DMC, I guess everyone wants their houses cleaned up for Christmas, huh? Never thought about you being busier this time of year. Are you going to stay home for Christmas or are you going somewhere?

Hi Debby! Just a couple extra for Christmas but it messes with my schedule! We are going to my sisters for Christmas which is about 1/2 hour from here so not to far. She's requested my cut out sugar cookies and my homemade buns...which are frozen Rhodes dinner rolls that I let rise and bake

Her boys love them! I have done no holiday baking yet. I want to do different kinds of bon bons as my family and my best friends daughter love them. How far is your brother from you?

How about a gift bag instead?

LOL on the homemade buns, don't ever tell her! I've never made bon bons, are they hard to do? I've done a couple things but we keep eating them lol. Yesterday I made biscotti for the first time, it was easy to do and tasted great with a cup of coffee.

My brother (and other relations) lives in Cheyenne which is about 2.5 hours east of us. I told him we couldn't make any promises because of the weather but hope we can get there ok. A cousin from Oregon and another one from Texas will be there as well as some other family. He has a huge house so he can put everyone up for the night. And one night of all the family plus his 3 enormous dogs is my limit, lol. But it should be fun.

Bon bons are not hard but time consumimg. I do coconut, peanut butter and Oreo... might try a caramel pecan this year. I do spritz cookies for my oldest son as he loves them. I had to buy a new press since mine broke last year, hope it works good. Good thing your brother has a big house

The only place I ever stay over is my sister 3 hours away and it's pretty mellow there. Her son is coming home for christmas(he's a marine)so she's staying home for Christmas as she doesn't see him very often.

I've never been called a calendar girl...works for me

Thank you

Did any of you ever see the movie Calendar Girls, starring Helen Mirren?? Its based on a true story of a bunch of "older" women who put together a calendar to raise money. It happened in Yorkshire. Awesome movie!
