I'll have to admit, the cold is the only reason I don't miss having chickens yet. Going out in the freezing cold, dark morning isn't as much fun as sitting inside warm and drinking hot coffee. We are talking about building a small coop and getting another flock in the spring though. We'll have to see if the company has any serious objections to us doing that since they own our house.

What are you up to today?

Hi Debby! Totally agree! That would be nice if you could get chickens again. I had a long cleaning day today. The whole week is that way

Sounds like we have more snow coming this weekend. We just got about 6" on Saturday...yuck!!

Gooood morning 06:15AM and 70F [21C] Now that I have had a virtual breakfast of fancy words, time for coffee Well, if you can call this decaffeinated stuff I have been reduced to drinking coffee Thank you all for your kind words regarding Cilla; she is fine today and no further signs of whatever it was that spooked her so badly. I only have 5 girls, 1 has started her usual March moult early, 1 has laid 1 egg in 12 months and 2 are broody. That leaves Crystal as the only egg layer and she just did that. Sure does make broody breaking easy .. no crates required, just shut the coop door cos their ain't no chicken gunna be needing to go in there today Today's entertainment is going to be watching Blondzilla and GodCilla do laps around the coop Blondzilla has a bit of a reputation on BYC .. some of you have seen these pictures but for those who have not. When Blondie is broody, this is how she walks around for the majority of the time: Blondzilla planking ....

I just had a buff Orpington break broody, she was not enjoyable! I have 22 chickens and only 1 is laying about 3 days a week. I had to buy eggs the other day, I'm trying to get myself psyched up to use them

Having to go back to store-bought eggs is yuck! I got so spoiled having our own...they were huge, beautiful, tasty and convenient (no trip to town involved). The store eggshells are so fragile, a definite difference for sure.

Been going through a lot of eggs lately, trying to get a bit of holiday baking done. If the weather holds out, we're going to my brothers house on the 23rd and I'd like to take some goodies.

DMC, I guess everyone wants their houses cleaned up for Christmas, huh? Never thought about you being busier this time of year. Are you going to stay home for Christmas or are you going somewhere?

Thanks, Teila.  Wonderful to be feeling this way.  Still doing the nebulizer treatments, but I think that may become a long-term thing.  It's no big deal...just a few minutes a couple of times a day to breathe better is a small price to pay.

Off to a Christmas party tonight.  This one I've been looking forward to, so no qualms like Debby had.  Just a group of Cowley ladies and we do this every year.  It started out as a cookie exchange sort of thing, but evolved over the last 10 years or so to just be a gaggle of Grammas bragging up grandkids!  Right up my alley!    

I hate using my nebulizer..... But it is there when I really need it.... And then it's my favorite thing in the world...... Glad your feeling better......
