The other night my Plymouth was roosting but as she was doing so she was pulsing I’m her behind. She kept pushing but nothing. I thought she probably just had a soft egg so I let her be came back in the morning. All I found was poop and some small sign of yolk but most likely the hens ate the egg like they do. She tried laying an egg today and it’s very dark compared to her usual color. The egg has calcium bumps and a little bit of blood at the top. I put a light to the egg and it was very see through. The shell was hard but thin. Fragile. I could see the yolk and move it around. I normally don’t see that. And it had other things floating around in it. I had a video of the light but dropped the egg of course and cracked it. I will post the video as well.

The small dots in the yolk aren’t bugs idk what they were. It is in the thrash now so I can’t get a closer look.

The spots on the shell are kind of typical. I’ll get one or two here and there. Never anything wrong with the egg itself. If the shell is thin, just be a little more careful with it.
As for the spots. Blood spots look like blood. The brown things are just clumps of cells. You can find them in white eggs too if you look hard enough. Perfectly safe to eat. I pick them out with a sharp piece of the shell. It’s a little off-putting but safe.

Thank you!

Blood spots are from a blood vessel breaking when ova is released from follicle.
Meat spots are from a tiny piece of tissue breaking loose from the reproductive tract.

Most, if not all, of these are culled out of commercial eggs during candling inspection.
