So i previously posted on here of a Rhode Island Red chicken that I got a couple months ago. When I got her she was missing a lot of her feathers and her feathers seem to be very brittle. I also have a chicken that is laying eggs that the shells are very thin and break just pulling them out of the carton. Not only are they brittle but within the past month they are very wrinkly. Not sure if it is her though....On top of trying to figure this all out the past two days when I go to look them up for the night I noticed she is not getting into her normally roosting spot with the other chickens. She would just lay out the ground and I noticed she looked like she was pushing. I tried to pick her up and she seems really heavy to lift. She will walk around but last night she didn't really want to move. I tried testing to see if she was egg bound and the first time I did it I felt something that I thought was an egg. I read on here to use some Vaseline to help with it so I did. This morning I checked on her and she was in the same spot I left her. She did poop white and brown solid but it still sitting like a penguin and still looks like she is trying to push. I read on here that I should put her in hot water and give her tums. Is this effective? Will she make it by the time I get home? I heard this can be fatal, she ate this morning for me and I put in some extra oyster shells for her in her own little dish.
