It depends on what you mean by rotten.... if you are talking about an egg you found someplace and you want to know if it's rotten, then I'm afraid there's not much you can do besides give it a sniff or crack it open. If you're talking about an egg that you've incubated, then you can candle it to look for signs of a 'bad' egg, give it a sniff test if you want. Other than that there's not a lot you can do.
i set 6 under my broody chicken. that was on the 5th.
i got them from a friends. she had a bucket of eggs from a nest were the duck was laying and brought them inside so i got 3 from that nest and there was a nest outside i found that were the ducks was laying and got 3 from that nest. they were blue eggs and the shell looked like they were getting darker blue or light greyish.
