http://www2.ca.uky.edu/afspoultry-files/pubs/Anatomy_Female_reproductive.pdf My hubby was asking about how eggs develop inside the hen. I had wondered as well. So I googled, got this great information, and thought yall'd be interested as well. I like how it explains the after 3 thing.
It is a good article with great information. There are some things I did not know, such as the time an egg spends in each section while it is being formed and where the sperm is stored. Thanks for the post. I have had a few hens that did not read the manual about the after three thing though. One that was really blatant was my only green egg layer. She laid an egg practically every day a the same time, first thing in the morning. It was very obvious that she did not get an hour later every day. But a lot of mine do, so I'd say the hour later a day is probably a more normal thing. I just don't find a whole lot of things consistent about all chickens.
Great link I just told my grandson that we should strive to learn something new every day, thank you.
Really enjoyed the article. I love learning new things, and since I am now a backyard chicken raiser, I guess I best know my chickens. You are never too old to learn something new.
