I was looking into getting some. However, I've read that they don't do so swell in warm climates. We're in the Piney woods, the area my pheasant pen is going into is very shaded and the wind blows right through. It IS still Texas, though, and it does still get stifling hot. Anyone have any luck with more of the exotic fowl in this area?

I wouldn't do it.They are from the Himalayan mountains and I don't think they could handle that kinda heat for weeks on end.Why not go with peacock pheasants?

I'll look into those. I can't find any breeders around us, and I am guessing that's for good reason.
