This afternoon I had the chicks and mama out while I read a book on the hammack. My neighbor whom my family is great friends with and watched my chickens while we were on vacation for 2 weeks, comes up to me with a gift bag stuffed with tissue paper. I open it up, and there are two chicken books: "The Complete Encyclopedia of Chickens" by Esther Verhoef/Aad Rijs and "The Chicken Health Handbook" by Gail Damerow. I was VERY surprised. All I did for her was feed her 5 cats for one night while she and her bf went to a wedding. [IMG] Probably one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever gotten and I know I will be using them a lot! This encyclopedia is AMAZING! So many breeds that I've never heard of (mainly ones in the UK). [IMG]

Thank you Molly, you're the best neighbor ever! [IMG]

Those are really great and thoughtful gifts. I'm sure alot of thought was put into them.

I do parrot rehab and rescue and a woman contacted me through my vet to ask me to take her Scarlet macaw who was plucking his feathers. The woman was working two jobs to make ends meet and didn't have time to spend with the parrot and he started to pluck because of it.

I took her parrot in and within a matter of weeks, he was doing 100% better. For Christmas 2 years ago, she purchased a book for me that was on my wish list. It was an out of print book that was extremely expensive and very hard to acquire. She even went the extra mile to get the book autographed by the authors.

I cried when she gave it to me. Gifts that come from thoughtful consideration, even if they don't cost anything but someone's time are the best gifts of all.

I hope you really enjoy your wonderful gifts!
