I'm about to set my first lot of eggs this year which im going to buy online, just wondered what you thought about these eggs for sale on eBay? Copper blue marans; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120859788620?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Blue Cochins; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150747643415?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I have never owned these breeds before so thoughts on them would be great aswell Im mostly buying them in hope they will sell good at the mart in November, since a trio of copper blue marans sold for £100 last year
Yeh, there really are none in this area My only way of getting eggs here are online posted or our own birds. We are asking around to see if anyone has pure bred birds in the area but it doesnt look like there are
We don't have hatcheries in the UK like you guys. Most of our hatching eggs come via Ebay unfortunately. Where abouts are you Fraoch and is it those particular breeds you are looking for?
Im up north on the west coast of the highlands, it's really just any pretty hens that sell well we're looking for. I'm keeping my eye out for black/blue/spalsh orpingtons, cochins and blue copper marans mostly. Aswell as any indian runners but its hard to get any of these cheap I thought i had found someone close by but sadly a fox got nearly all his stock over winter
I have gotten good eggs from ebay, you can also PM the ebay seller and ask if they are on BYC and things like that. Alot of peopel selling eggs on there are. I have and then gone on to buy direct from them and not thru auction any more
Here are a few Scottish breeders. They don't all have websites but there are a couple in Caithness and one in Ardgay that you might be able to ring and arrange something. http://www.theincubatorshop.co.uk/hatching_eggs/
