Three bullseyes! Anybody ever seen this?

If you asked my little hen Tinker, she'd probably agree with you. She's the one that walks around with a look on her face like...oh boy, here he comes again!

3 bullseyes... that wouldn't be the roo... it would be the hen!! If it's just a dot, it's a germinal disc. Maybe 3 of her yolks fused? No idea!

No, these are the bullseye that you see with a fertilized egg - a white dot surrounded by a paler ring surrounded by another white ring, not just the dot.

I recently sent some eggs to another BYCer for a test hatch. Out of the 16, 14 were fertile. Of those 8 or nine hatched. One roo to 14 hens.

I had an egg once that had about 6 or 7 bullseyes. From a production red. And all my roos are banties!

I guess it's possible that the sperm makes a white dot too... did they all look exactly the same? Probably was polyspermy... where more than one sperm enters the egg. It's rare, but it happens in all species.

Yep, that's pretty much what it looked like Cyn; the outside rings were very distinct. Huge yolk too.
