My huge red ranger rooster is so fierce and large you would think you'd be gone in seconds but he's sooooooooo sweet. He's got a soft side because when you play with his butt feathers he starts preening his chest! Sometimes he will even try to preen my coat. I think he's ticklish.

This is a New Member introduction forum. [IMG] I believe there is a funny story thread already on BYC. You could put that in the search box and see what comes up.

The other contest for that thread is over. So I figured I would make a new one.

I thought that if you're messing with a chickens butt and they start preening their neck feathers it means it hurts. My chickens do it when I clean their butts if they're poopy or when I wash their butt when I give them a bath.

I don't think it hurts they'd be squacking if it did. But I'm glad some one else's chickens do this

Chickens don't always show pain by squawking, squawking means they're scared.
But if you are just lightly tickling the feathers I don't know why it would hurt?
