Found this tiny egg in the nesting box today. What causes this?
We call them "fart eggs" because they come out along with anotheanother egg (or without) before it is fully developed.
We have had tiny eggs but only when they were laying for the first time. I have not experienced what CL200 described. Sounds like a neat phenomenon
Tiny or miniature eggs, that come from a non-bantam breed, are known as “Cock Egg’s”. They form when a piece of tissue enters the Oviduct and triggers the formation of an egg.
