I have a 4 year old hen who seems to be more tired than normal. She is definately not broody, she's never been broody actually. She's are head hen of the flock, she has spurs, she tries to cockadoodle..though it sounds strangled and she lays eggs almost daily. We fondly call her our fluid gender derp.

This last few months I notice she just isn't as spunky as normal. She spends a lot of time laying in low bushes sleeping. Sometimes her wings hang a bit. Her weight is good, poop is good. Feathers all look good. (though she is a splash, that is mostly white and she has always liked to find a good mud puddle to rub the top of her head in..so she is always a bit dirty on the head and nothing has changed there) We've added 4 to the flock who we just introduced this week and she is moving to a new and improved coop, but I'm worried about the stress right now while she isn't feeling so hot. I wormed everyone last month because I was worried about her and wanted to make sure all was well before they were introduced to new pullets.

Our other polish, same age, looks gorgeous, always super clean, alert and in your business. Though she has never been the champion egg layer that the one I'm worried about is. Lastly we have another 4 year old bantam blue laced wyndadotte and she has had some health issues-prolapse, occassional no shell eggs. She has to be watched pretty closley, currently a nice bottom, healthy eggs and doing well.

I just can't figure out what is wrong with our splash. Do you think it's age related? Infection that is not completely debilitating? I've scoured the site here and just can't find anything that sounds like her.

Not the best picture of her, but it's the only one I could find currently.
