    Hello all!
I'm new to chickens and BYC but very excited to be here... We have 7 chickens that are just over 5 months old and one just started laying eggs. We know we have 1 rooster and we think 2. We found this one (Silvie) laying on an egg. He is a rooster, right? Thanks! ![IMG]

    Hello! Welcome to BYC!

That one in front is a hen. Big comb, but her saddle feathers are nice and round.

    [IMG] Glad you joined us!

The bird in front is definitely a hen. True, her comb is really big, but that is common for Mediterranean-type hens like her breed (Blue Andalusian). Her feathering is hennish, as well.

Feel free to ask any other questions you have. We're all here to help. [IMG]

Welcome to BYC! [IMG]We're glad to have you.

The bird in the front part of the photo is a hen. She's a Blue Andalusian, which naturally have large combs and wattles. The one behind her is a rooster, in case you didn't know that yet. [IMG]

Glad to say a bird IS a hen for a change and NOT a rooster. Welcome to BYC
