Today, Peck became a hen!

She laid her first egg at almost 24 weeks! So quietly, too -- I had no suspicion until I cleaned the coop. Right in the nest box, what a good girl! My son's already called dibs on it for breakfast tomorrow morning.

She's beautiful and what a lovely egg! But just so you know, chickens are not considered hens or roosters until they are a year old. Might seem like a moot point but it matters. But either way, enjoy your new eggs!
