Good news: Today I got 15 more hens! All healthy, well cared for by the previous owner, and in the mix were 2 gorgious RIR's. Bad news: One of the RIR's had a heart attack and died in my arms. I did everything possible to reduce their stress while transporting them, even drove my car right up to the quarentine pen gate so as to make the trip from car to pen quick. I pulled her out of the dog crate and she got a little fussey, calmed her down and she was settled in when she shuddered and tensed up, closed her eyes and I could feel her heart spasming, and she just died. My wife and kids were standing their in shock, as was I. I pulled the rest of them out of the crates exactly the same way as the first, and all are fine, eating , drinking, pooping and doing chicken things.
