This may sound odd but one of my chicken has very long toenails and Im not sure if I should cut them or not I think it may be making it harder for her to walk any advice on how to clip them or something along those lines.

You can clip them but do so just a bit at a time. The quick is very close to the end. As you trim them, the quick will recede over time.
Do your chickens get out where they can scratch in the dirt? That usually helps keep them shorter.

    Hi, welcome to BYC! [IMG]

I would think any clippers that are comfortable in your hand and you have good control over should work fine. [IMG]

I know the vet uses steptic powder if they cut too short by accident and cause bleeding, to make it stop completely. Of course not doing that would be best. BUT if you need to use something, corn starch helps clot blood faster.
